Archie Bunker

Archie Bunker is a fictional character from the American television sitcom *All in the Family* (1971–1979), a working-class man from Queens whose loud, opinionated bigotry made him an icon of a certain kind of American ignorance.

The name now serves as shorthand for an older white man with reactionary views on race, gender, and social change: My uncle's a real Archie Bunker—still thinks women belong in the kitchen.
