Lisa Simpson

Lisa Simpson is a fictional character from the animated television series *The Simpsons*—the eight-year-old daughter of Homer and Marge, sister to Bart and Maggie.

She represents the overachieving, socially conscious child: gifted, vegetarian, Buddhist, saxophone-playing, and perpetually frustrated by her family's mediocrity.

The name has become shorthand for a precocious young person whose intelligence and moral earnestness go unappreciated: She was the Lisa Simpson of her friend group, always trying to get everyone to care about the environment.
