wood screw
Threaded lumber fastener
A wood screw is a metal fastener with a pointed tip and helical threading designed to grip wood fibers as it's driven in.
The threads are coarser and more widely spaced than those on machine screws, which mate with pre-cut threads.
Wood screws typically have a tapered shank and a slotted, Phillips, or square-drive head: I need some wood screws to attach the hinges.
