weakfish

Atlantic coast catch

Weakfish is a saltwater fish found along the Atlantic coast of North America, valued as a game and food fish.

The name refers to the fish's tender mouth, which tears easily when hooked: I lost another weakfish when the hook pulled through.

Also called sea trout, though unrelated to true trout.
