flatfish

Sole or halibut

A flatfish is a fish with a flattened body that swims on its side and has both eyes on one side of its head—flounder, sole, halibut, and turbot are flatfish.

They lie camouflaged on the ocean floor, nearly invisible to prey and predators.

The term also describes anything flat and fish-shaped.
