triggerfish
Reef fish, lockable
Triggerfish are tropical marine fish named for their distinctive dorsal spine mechanism—a larger front spine that locks upright and can only be released by depressing a smaller "trigger" spine behind it.
This adaptation helps them wedge themselves into reef crevices to avoid predators.
They have tough, leathery skin, strong jaws capable of crushing shellfish and sea urchins, and a reputation for territorial aggression, particularly when guarding nests.
