washes

Cleans with water

Washes is the plural of wash—instances of cleaning with water or other liquid: three washes a week, the car needs two washes to get the mud off.

In laundry, washes are separate loads: I did four washes today.

Washes also names shallow water channels or dry riverbeds that fill seasonally, common in arid regions: flash floods tore through the desert washes.
