vancomycin
Glycopeptide infection fighter
Vancomycin is a powerful antibiotic used against serious bacterial infections, particularly those caused by gram-positive bacteria resistant to other drugs.
It's often called a "drug of last resort" for treating MRSA and other stubborn infections: The patient was started on vancomycin after other antibiotics failed.
Administered intravenously for systemic infections or orally for certain gut infections.
