trailing edge

Airfoil's back margin

The trailing edge is the rear edge of something moving through air or water—the back of a wing, blade, or sail where airflow separates.

In aerodynamics, it contrasts with the leading edge at front: Flaps extend from the trailing edge to increase lift during landing.

Figuratively, trailing edge describes outdated technology or lagging adoption, opposite of cutting edge.
