screed

Long bitter rant

A screed is a long, tedious piece of writing or speech, usually a rant or harangue: He launched into a screed about government corruption.

The word carries negative connotations—screeds are tiresome and often angry.

In construction, a screed is a leveling tool or a strip of material used as a guide for smoothing concrete or plaster to an even surface.
