tailless

Lacking rear extension

Tailless describes something that lacks a tail, whether naturally or through removal.

Some animals are tailless by design—certain cat breeds, some primates, frogs in their adult form.

Others become so through docking or injury: a tailless dog.

The word applies to anything that might have a tail but doesn't: a tailless kite, tailless aircraft.
