superscription
Writing placed above
Superscription is writing placed above or on top of something else—an address on an envelope, a title on a document, or an inscription at the head of a text.
The word appears most often in formal or historical contexts: The superscription on the cross read "King of the Jews".
It can also mean the act of writing such text.
