suicide note
Last written words
A suicide note is a message left by someone who intends to take their own life, typically explaining their reasons or saying goodbye to loved ones.
Such notes may express despair, apologize to survivors, or give instructions about affairs: Police found a suicide note on the kitchen table.
The term also appears figuratively for actions that will destroy one's career or reputation: Voting for that bill would be political suicide—he might as well write himself a note.
