Justifications for actions

Reasons are explanations or justifications for something—the "why" behind actions, beliefs, or events: What are your reasons for leaving?

To reason is to think systematically or to persuade through argument: She reasoned with him until he calmed down.

It stands to reason introduces what seems logically obvious.
