strophe
Ode's opening section
A strophe is a section of a Greek choral ode, sung as the chorus moved in one direction across the stage—answered by the antistrophe when they moved back.
More broadly, strophe refers to any stanza or verse unit in poetry: The poem's opening strophe establishes the central tension.
