anapaest
Da-da-DUM rhythm
An anapaest is a metrical foot in poetry consisting of two unstressed syllables followed by a stressed one: da-da-DUM.
The word "intervene" demonstrates the pattern.
Anapaestic verse has a galloping, propulsive rhythm, familiar from limericks and Dr.
Seuss: There once was a man from Nantucket.
Also spelled anapest.
