Aeschylus

Ancient Athenian dramatist

Aeschylus was an ancient Greek dramatist of the fifth century BCE, regarded as the father of tragedy.

He introduced a second actor to the stage, enabling dialogue and dramatic conflict beyond simple narration.

Of his many plays, seven survive, including the *Oresteia* trilogy.

His name appears in discussions of classical literature and the origins of Western drama.
