eye squint

Partially closed eyes

An eye squint is a condition where the eyes don't align properly—one eye may turn inward, outward, upward, or downward while the other looks straight ahead.

The medical term is strabismus.

In casual use, squint also describes the action of narrowing one's eyes to see better or against bright light: She squinted at the small print.
