spiking
Volleyball attack move
Spiking is adding something harmful or intoxicating to food or drink without the consumer's knowledge.
Most often this means slipping drugs or extra alcohol into someone's beverage: She suspected her drink had been spiked.
The term also covers contaminating Halloween candy or lacing substances with dangerous additives.
In volleyball and similar sports, spiking is forcefully driving the ball downward into the opponent's court.
