Back-row defensive player
A libero is a defensive specialist in volleyball, a back-row player who can substitute freely without counting against team limits.
The libero wears a different colored jersey and cannot attack the ball above net height or set from the front zone.
The position was introduced in 1998 to improve defensive play and extend rallies.
