dose
Medicine at once
A dose is a measured quantity of something, especially medicine or a drug, meant to be taken at one time: The doctor prescribed a higher dose of the antibiotic.
By extension, dose applies to any portion of experience, particularly unpleasant ones: a healthy dose of reality, a dose of his own medicine.
As a verb, to dose someone is to administer medicine to them, or to add a substance to something in measured amounts.
