fitted

Made to measure

Fitted is the past tense of fit, used when something has been made to match exact measurements: The tailor fitted him for a suit.

A fitted sheet has elastic edges shaped to hug a mattress.

Fitted can also describe clothing cut close to the body: a fitted jacket.

In American English, fit and fitted both serve as past tense—The key fit the lock and The key fitted the lock are equally valid—though fitted dominates when describing customization or tailoring.
