Rigid tile substrate
Cementboard is a building material made of cement reinforced with fibers, used as a substrate for tile in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
Unlike drywall, it resists moisture and won't deteriorate when exposed to water: We installed cementboard behind the shower tile.
Common brands include Durock and Hardiebacker.
