joint compound
Drywall seam paste
Joint compound is a paste used in drywall work to cover seams, fill holes, and create smooth surfaces for painting.
It's applied over the joints between drywall panels along with paper or mesh tape, then sanded when dry.
Also called mud in the trade: I need another bucket of joint compound to finish the bedroom.
