scanline
Display's pixel row
A scanline is a single horizontal line of pixels in a raster image or display.
Old CRT monitors drew images by sweeping an electron beam across the screen one scanline at a time, top to bottom.
The term persists in digital imaging and retro gaming aesthetics, where visible scanlines evoke vintage graphics: The emulator adds scanlines for an authentic 1990s look.
