sandhill

Coastal sandy ridge

A sandhill is a hill or ridge composed of sand, formed by wind or water action.

Sandhills often appear in clusters across prairie or coastal landscapes: the Nebraska Sandhills, Florida's sandhill country.

The sandhill crane takes its name from the sandy habitats where it commonly feeds.
