tidal creek
Brackish water channel
A tidal creek is a narrow waterway in coastal marshland or estuary whose water level rises and falls with the tides.
These winding channels connect salt marshes to larger bodies of water, flooding at high tide and draining to expose mudflats at low tide.
They serve as nurseries for fish and shellfish: We paddled up the tidal creek at high water.
