sandbags
Weighted emergency defenses
Sandbags are bags filled with sand, used primarily to build temporary barriers against flooding or as fortification in military contexts.
Stacked together, they form walls that redirect water or stop bullets.
The verb sandbag means to reinforce with sandbags, but it has extended meanings: to coerce or bully someone, or to deliberately underperform to gain advantage later.
He sandbagged in the early rounds, then crushed his opponents in the finals.
