runup
Time before event
A runup is the period of preparation or increase leading to an event or moment: the runup to the election, a runup in stock prices.
In sports, it's the approach before a jump, throw, or kick—the steps a bowler takes before releasing the ball or a long jumper takes before the board.
Also spelled run-up.
