free kick
Foul's awarded consequence
A free kick is an uncontested kick awarded in soccer and similar sports after a foul by the opposing team.
The ball is placed at the spot of the infraction, and opponents must stay a set distance away until the kick is taken.
A direct free kick can score without touching another player; an indirect free kick cannot.
