runnel

Brook's smaller cousin

A runnel is a small stream or brook, or a narrow channel through which water flows.

The word appears most often in literary or descriptive writing: Runnels of rainwater coursed down the hillside.

It can also describe any small rivulet, including those formed temporarily by rain or melting snow.
