bourn
Trickling water course
A bourn is a small stream or brook, especially one that flows only seasonally or intermittently.
The word survives mainly in British place names and literary contexts.
A second, unrelated bourn means a boundary or limit, or a destination or goal—most familiar from Hamlet's "undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns." Also spelled bourne.
