babble

Talk without sense

Babble is rapid, incoherent speech—the sounds a baby makes before learning words, or what adults produce when excited, confused, or delirious: The fever had him babbling nonsense.

A brook babbles when it makes continuous murmuring sounds over stones.

Babble can also mean idle chatter or gossip: office babble, the babble of the crowd.
