rubrics
Assessment scoring guides
Rubrics are guidelines, rules, or categories under which things are organized or evaluated.
In education, a rubric is a scoring guide that spells out criteria for grading: The rubric awards points for thesis, evidence, and organization.
More broadly, rubric means a heading or category: These items fall under the rubric of office supplies.
The word originally referred to text written in red ink—instructions or headings in medieval manuscripts—which explains its connection to guidance and categorization.
