elected

Won the ballot

Elected describes someone chosen by vote for a position or office: the newly elected mayor, an elected official.

It can also describe choices more broadly—an elected course of study is one chosen rather than required.

To say someone is elected but not yet serving, use president-elect or similar constructions with the hyphenated suffix.
