rhymester
Crafter of couplets
A rhymester is someone who writes verse, usually with the implication that the work is mediocre or amateurish.
The term carries a dismissive edge—serious poets get called poets, while rhymesters produce doggerel or greeting-card sentiments: He fancied himself a poet but was really just a rhymester.
Also spelled rhymster or rimester.
