Repetition-based memory acquisition
Rote learning is memorization through repetition rather than through understanding.
Students who learn by rote can recite facts, formulas, or vocabulary but may not grasp underlying concepts or know how to apply what they've memorized.
The method is often contrasted with deeper forms of learning that emphasize comprehension and critical thinking.
She passed the test through rote learning but couldn't explain why the formula worked.
