femoral artery

Major leg artery

The femoral artery is the main blood vessel supplying the thigh and leg.

It runs from the groin down the inner thigh, where it can be felt as a pulse point.

Because of its size and accessibility, the femoral artery is used for cardiac catheterization and other medical procedures—but also makes the inner thigh a site of life-threatening bleeding from stab or gunshot wounds.
