rain gutters

Rooftop water channels

Rain gutters are channels attached along the edge of a roof to collect and direct rainwater away from a building's foundation.

Usually made of aluminum, vinyl, or copper, they empty into downspouts that carry water to the ground.

The rain gutters are clogged with leaves again.

Also called simply gutters or eavestroughs in some regions.
