drip edge
Eave water guide
A drip edge is a strip of metal or plastic installed along the edges of a roof to direct water away from the fascia and into the gutters.
It prevents water from seeping under the shingles or running down the eaves, protecting the underlying wood from rot: The roofer installed new drip edge before laying the shingles.
