Metal end pieces
A ferrule is a metal ring or cap fitted around the end of a stick, handle, or tube to strengthen it or prevent splitting.
Umbrella tips, cane ends, and tool handles commonly have ferrules.
The term also applies to the metal band that crimps brush bristles to a paintbrush handle, or the connector that joins sections of a fishing rod.
In plumbing and other trades, ferrules are compression fittings that create tight seals around pipes or wires.
