radarscope

Sweeping detection display

A radarscope is the display screen of a radar system, showing the positions of detected objects as blips or echoes.

The term dates from early radar technology when cathode-ray tubes provided the visual output.

Modern systems use digital displays, but radarscope persists in aviation and military contexts: The controller watched the radarscope for incoming aircraft.
