medical doctor
Treats sick patients
A medical doctor is a physician—someone trained and licensed to practice medicine, diagnose illness, and prescribe treatment.
The term distinguishes holders of the M.D. degree from those with doctoral degrees in other fields: She's a doctor, but not a medical doctor—she has a PhD in chemistry.
