raphe

Tissue fusion line

A raphe is a seamlike line or ridge where two halves of a structure have fused together.

In anatomy, the term describes visible midline seams on body parts—the raphe running down the scrotum or along the roof of the mouth.

In botany, it's the ridge on certain seeds where the stalk attached.

The word appears almost exclusively in technical contexts.
