planum
Level anatomical area
A planum is a flat or level surface, used primarily in anatomy and planetary science.
In anatomy, it refers to a relatively smooth, flat area of bone: the planum temporale.
In planetary geology, it designates a high plain or plateau on celestial bodies: the planum on Mars showed signs of ancient water flow.
