place kick
Ball on tee
A place kick is a kick made while the ball rests on the ground, as opposed to a punt or drop kick.
In American football, place kicks are used for field goals and extra points, with a holder positioning the ball upright.
In rugby and soccer, the term applies to penalty kicks and kickoffs: He lined up for the place kick from forty yards out.
