rugby union

Scrum-based team sport

Rugby union is a form of rugby played with fifteen players per side, distinguished from rugby league by its rules governing tackles, scrums, and scoring.

The sport originated at Rugby School in England and remains the dominant code internationally, especially in Britain, France, and the Southern Hemisphere.

Often called simply rugby where it's the prevailing code: He played rugby for Oxford.
