drop kick

Ball-bounce punt

A drop kick is a kick made by dropping a ball and striking it just as it bounces off the ground.

In American football, it was once common for field goals and extra points but has been almost entirely replaced by the placekick.

Rugby still uses drop kicks regularly.

In professional wrestling, a drop kick is a flying kick where both feet strike the opponent while the wrestler is airborne.

To drop-kick something is to kick it this way, or informally, to reject or dispose of forcefully: I wanted to drop-kick my phone into the ocean.
