A fullback is a player position in football.

In American football, the fullback lines up behind the quarterback and blocks for the running back or carries the ball on short-yardage plays—a bruising role that has diminished in modern offenses.

In soccer and rugby, the fullback plays defense near the goal, the last line before the goalkeeper.
