reading level
Comprehension skill measurement
Reading level is a measure of how difficult a text is to read, or how well someone reads.
Texts are often assigned grade levels: This novel is at a fifth-grade reading level.
The term also describes a reader's ability: Her reading level is above average for her age.
Publishers and educators use reading level to match materials to readers.
